Solidcore class Openings | Enya the Singer | Rollerblades

I found a singer worth $150M and she's never once toured - I didn't know that was possible! | [solidcore] is hosting LSC | Boston will have a packed 2024 start!

I found the most fun little factoid on Instagram.

(I fact-checked though, don’t worry)

And I’m obsessed now.

Do you know Enya?

She sings this, and this, and this.

Her music is one of a kind, very niche, and not the norm for a quiet Irish woman living in a secluded castle in Ireland.

Or maybe it is the norm, but I would argue her popularity is outstanding for how quiet she is…

She doesn’t tour.

Has never toured.

She doesn’t self-promote on Socials.

and:

She is worth $150M USD, Has two honorary doctorates, and has sold over 75 million records.

The thing I am taking away from this:

Like Enya, your path to success will not be a copy and paste from someone else’s methods.

I (like many) assumed that singers only made money from touring. It’s just what I’ve been told!

But success comes in many forms, through many funnels.

Your road may look a lot different, but it’s your path to pave!!

So, as 2023 closes up - think about how far you’ve come, where you want to go, and remember it’s your journey!

You got this.

xx

Roller Blading

I gave my friend her rollerblades back (they were in my apt for a few months).

She and I had such big intentions to rollerblade a bunch. It got me thinking though:

I feel like rollerblading boomed over the last few years, no?

So I researched:

Rollerblading has been growing very steadily since about 2018.

The Industry has a CAGR of 3.2% (solid, but not crazy) and is expected to be worth $604.18M by 2029.

A lot of the articles I read talked about how adult purchasing patterns in ‘recreational’ activities has grown across the board.

People are looking at physical activities and recreational sports for a healthy lifestyle.

But my thoughts (time and time again) is that adults are looking for ‘play’. Rollerblading is an acceptable form of adult recess that allows us to have fun, and feel playful but not have strangers question our tactics around happiness.

After hosting a vision boarding night, I believe this even more: Adults are looking for play.

So - Alas, I think there are two things to do:

  1. Dust off my rollerblades and go meet Anna in Central Park.

  2. Host more playful events with Lime Social Club.

  • My bookclub met this past Monday, and we all recommend reading Mad Honey by Jodi Picoult. The book has twists and turns none of us expected. And a testament to the storyline - Its a huge book but a very fast read.

  • Charlie Munger died a few weeks ago, and a ton of people posted takeaways from his life and career. My favorite podcast broke down a few of his goto thought structures - In particular there is one about how he outlines his goals that I loved. This Podcast is super interesting and not like My First Million’s usual shows.

  • YALL!! I DON’T CARE if you are not a big Swifty. This is a great piece, so well written and you need to read it. Thats all.

  • ~30 second video right here. It went viral on Instagram a while ago. I love the idea of motivation vs discipline and this guy’s take got me.
