Its a Pawtayyyy! | Heatwise Hot Yoga | Boston Social Hour

NYC come hang out tonight, Boston hang out next Tuesday! NYC: Hot Yoga on Friday, Dinner on Saturday.

Sponsored by

I have a pretty large family (avg of 40 people at full family functions).

One of my cousins, Kayla, is hilarious. And I have many distinctive memories of her randomly yelling in a thick Long Island accent:

“It’s a pawtay!!!”

Not sure where it came from — but it’s forever engrained in my mind.

So much so, that when thinking of how to describe tonight — I wanted to start off this email by welcoming y’all with:

“It’s a pawtay!!!”

SO!! Tonight: Lime Social Club will be hanging out with the cool kids of Journaling Classes at McCarren Parkhouse starting at 7:00.

Emily, founder of Journaling Classes, will have some tunes, crafting goods, vibes, and all the fun for a night of community.

You can find more information and tickets here. Come alone, bring some friends, bring a stranger — anything goes.

I will be there all night and hope to see you!!

xx,

Caite

Why the heck did we start building Snowmen?

Funny you should ask! I built one just yesterday.

Which prompted a long dive into Google and some interesting takes.

Snowmen have a large history involving religion, politics, Michelangelo, and now fun. But, I’ll give you a bit of an overview:

Back in the 1200’s snowmen first appeared alongside religious and political stances. Many people believed that the heavens sent down snow for humans to make snowmen. It was seen as an offering of a blank slate that allowed people to express their needs and voice their opinions without having to expose themselves.

In 1494, Michaelangelo was then commissioned to make Belgian royalty a snowman, which later turned into a yearly tradition for the townspeople.

During battles in the late 1600s, soldiers would use snowmen dressed in proper attire to ‘guard’ gates, hoping any oncoming soldiers would be fooled. (Spoiler: It didn’t work)

It wasn’t until the 1930s that snowmen started to shape into more of what we know today — commercialization around Christmas, children-oriented playfulness, and even the new sales for snowmen accessory kits.

Please note the Snowman accessory kit market is at a market valuation of $1.3M in 2022 and an expected CAGR of 3.2% over 10 years — what happened to just using sticks!!!???

Which brings me here:

I am currently in New York a bit north of NYC, at my parents, and yesterday we were slammed with snow. I went outside only to realize it was great packing snow.

SO OBVIOUSLY, I ended up building a snowman and my mom caught me in action…

My mom and I laughed about this for easily 30 minutes — It’s so nice to remember how happy such innocent actions can make many people.

And even wilder to learn where such traditions came from.

This Army Water Stops Urges

Too much water is NOT the cause of your bathroom struggles…

In fact, it’s the opposite.

Kidneys don’t filter fluid as well as they did when you were a kid - causing concentrated urine that irritates your bladder and causes spontaneous urges.

Luckily, US Army researchers decoded a shockingly easy water trick that can improve muscle strength by 36%, reduce UTIs by 58%, and give you control back…

All by targeting the true cause of bladder problems in as little as 2 hours.

  • Fun Fact: Snakes smell with their tongue. Thats it.

  • Last week I talked (possibly too much) about how top-performing athletes focus on their mental performance either equal to or more than physical and technical ability. Well here is an interesting one-minute snippet of self-talk and its impact.

  • Did I tell you this yet? I started reading Crying in H Mart: A Memoir and I have to take breaks because of how deep it’s hitting. Although I cannot relate to much of Michelle Zauner’s experience, reading about the human experience helps me digest my own and simultaneously helps me give others grace. Zauner writes beautifully and combines a perspective of grief, love, anger, and confusion into one story. If you’re looking for a new book — this is it!
